Earthwatch Institute Earthwatch Institute is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the sustainable conservation of our natural resources. Earthwatch puts their members and volunteers in the field where they can assist scientists with their research. The site features news, educational resources, profiles of current expeditions, and lots more. Busy Person's Guide to Greener Living This is a how-to guide providing advice and tools for living greener. The site includes eco-tips and links to further information. Envirolink This is the home page of a non-profit organization which serves as an umbrella for hundreds of environmental organizations. Environmental Job Descriptions At this site you will find listings and descriptions of dozens of jobs and careers in environmental science. Union of Concerned Scientists This organization of scientists speaks up against practices that they consider dangerous to the planet and its inhabitants. UCS’s current focuses are biotechnology, antibiotic resistance, and sustainable agriculture. |

Population Connection Previously named Zero Population Growth, Population Connection describes itself as the nation's largest grassroots organization concerned with the impacts of rapid population growth and wasteful consumption. The site contains news, continually updated population statistics, a FAQ page on human population, and lots more. Macroeconomics and Growth This World Bank page discusses economic growth, poverty reduction, and disparities around the world. Population Reference Bureau Visit this site to learn more about how global population is increasing. Too Many Rich People An article by Paul Ehrlich that explores the relative burdens that the rich and poor place on the planet. Read this for a good explanation of human carrying capacity. This speech was given at the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development and was reprinted in Brain Food. Worldwatch Institute The institute fosters the evolution of an environmentally sustainable society. Their site includes a huge number of articles and alerts describing how far we are from that goal.
