Introduction

The tanning and burning of skin, photosynthesis, smog formation, vision, bleaching of fabrics exposed to the sun, photography, even the skunkiness of beer are all the result of photochemical reactions. The area of chemistry in which these reactions are studied is known as photochemistry.
