      The AAPG Foundation supports graduate research in environmental geology, e.g. contributions to the discovery and development of petroleum and energy-minerals resources.

      Fellowship Information is a Yale-originated list of financial support for graduate and post-graduate students. As comprehensive and current as they come.

      Graduate Fellowships are available from the National Research Counsel.

      Student Research Grants are available from the Geological Society of America -- GSA.

      Grants-in-Aid of Research are sponsored by Sigma Xi -- The Scientific Research Society.

    Job Listings and Descriptions

      Careers in Geosciences (from AGI) describes what different geoscientists do. A question and answer format gives geologists a voice.

      A Career Planning Center is an Internet-based, free career counseling service sponsored by the Sloan Foundation. Join the 10,000 students who, as of November, 1996, registered with them free of charge.

      Peterson's Career Center "includes profiles of nearly 4,000 selected employers from across the United States that are known to be hiring employees for nontechnical, technical, and health-care industry positions." Also offers practical advice: how to use the Internet for job hunts and how to prepare a resume.

      Student Search is a database which student members of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists -- AAPG -- can use to sell themselves to potential employers.

      Next Wave is published by Science for the next generation of scientists. Featurings articles offering leads on alternative careers and open discussion of science career topics.
