The calculator places an arrow at the x-value we chose and now asks for a point on the graph whose x-coordinate is to the right of the x-intercept's x-coordinate. We can do this by moving the cursor with the arrow keys or by typing in an x-value. We'll do it the second way. Note that the graph crosses the x-axis near the point (3, 0) so we'll choose 4. Simply type "4." |

The calculator now asks for a "Guess." That simply means that we should move the cursor close to the x-intercept. The more complicated the function, the more important it is to get the cursor very close to the x-intercept. |
